I finished my first book of the new year a couple of days ago and just had to do a post about it! I thought that it was such an interesting read that I wanted to share it with you guys, for those that are looking for a new good book to read.
The book I am talking about is My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier!
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in psychology or is looking for a book that’s hard to put down and has a little creep factor to it. If you’re into psychology I think you would really enjoy it and might even learn a thing or two about the mind of a psychopath and how their minds work on a daily basis, not just when they do something bad (even though you’ll see that part of it too).
This story is about a boy named Che who believes that his little sister is a psychopath and his main goal in life it to try to keep her under control because she is out of control. She lacks empathy and shows exhibits all of the signs on the psychopath symptom checklist.
Rosa is constantly up to no good and is constantly manipulating those around her, as you make your way through the book you begin to understand how stressful it is to have to live with a person like her always having to be on guard and having to explain right and wrong and why you have to follow the rules and why killing others is bad and how to exhibit normals emotions and so on.
Towards the end there is a pretty crazy plot twist that really gets you thinking a lot, actually there’s a couple of things that happen but things get pretty crazy and that’s all I can say about it because you have to read it first!
The plot of this book was also multidimensional not only is it about Che trying to keep Rosa under control but there is also a little love stop with a girl he met, plus it shows him growing as a person and his passion for boxing, plus there’s the parents who kind of have their own unique style of parenting, so there’s some things not this book for everyone.
I enjoyed this book a lot so I would have to say 2017 is off to a great start, as far as reading goes!
Have you read My Sister Rosa yet? What did you think of it?
